Oligonucleotides are small molecules of 8–50 nucleotides in length that bind via Watson-Crick base pairing to enhance or repress the expression of target RNA [1].

At present, synthetic oligonucleotides have been widely used in the fields of biotechnology, gene editing, molecular diagnosis and therapy. Natural oligonucleotides have been widely used in gene construction, DNA sequence selection and determination, and site-directed mutagenesis, etc. They are the basic reagents of PCR technology.
